5 Health and Fitness Tips for Women

It’s no secret that as women, we spend a lot of time and energy caring for those around us, and we don’t always prioritize our own health. Balancing work, family, and other obligations can quickly throw us off our game and push our healthy habits to the back burner. If you’ve found yourself in a slump recently, we’ve got the perfect reason to get back on track: National Women’s Health and Fitness Day!

Wednesday, September 26th is National Women’s Health and Fitness day, a nation-wide effort to promote women’s health and wellness. It’s a day geared toward informing women and motivating them to take action for their health- a concept we couldn’t possibly be more on board with.

To celebrate, we’re sharing our top 5 favorite health and fitness tips.

1. Find a workout you LOVE.
There’s no reason to commit yourself to a workout you dread! When you find ways to move your body that you enjoy, it won’t feel like a workout at all. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. From rock climbing to barre classes, there are numerous ways to get fit.

2. Make it social.
For some of us, the fitness journey is easier to make with someone by our side. When we workout with a partner, we’re more likely to stay consistent in our efforts. Also, maintaining meaningful relationships is an integral part of our emotional health, which is definitely not something to overlook!

3. Don’t sabotage your fitness goals with poor food choices.
Support your physical efforts with the nourishment your body needs. A well-balanced diet can help you stay energized, shed weight (if that’s your goal), and feel fantastic. The best news? 4. More isn’t always better.
It can be easy to go overboard when you first begin a fitness routine, but over-committing can set you up for burnout and ultimately, abandoning your efforts. Did you know your workout can take as little as 15 minutes? That’s right, you don’t have to spend hours in the gym to get healthy. Short, intense workouts are easier to fit into daily routines, making it easier to stay consistent.

5. Take time to relax.
Stress is an inevitable part of life for all of us and it can lead to physical and emotional ailments. To combat the effects of stress on your life, make a commitment to yourself to do something relaxing every day. Whether that means committing to a daily meditation practice or reading a good book, it’s important to find ways to unwind every day.
